Elected Officials to Protect America (EOPA) organizes and empowers elected officials, from across America to protect our environment and fight climate change, while showing the way to a clean energy economy.

We leverage elected official’s voices, peer networks, and policymaking abilities to help shift the political center on climate change and achieve policy change at local, state, and federal levels.

EOPA has thousands of elected officials across America. Some of them are veterans as well as lawmakers. These EOPA members are the only group of serving elected officials who are veterans dedicated to preserving and protecting America’s public lands for all.

We aim to safeguard our public lands and protect watersheds and groundwater to keep our lands vibrant for future generations. By doing so we are continuing the Constitutional vows, we take as veterans and elected officials, to preserve and protect our nation.

— Former Maine State Rep. Alexander Cornell du Houx, who served in the Marines in Iraq and is now a Lieutenant in the Navy Reserves, and EOPA co-founder

Climate change has happened because of human behavior, therefore it’s only natural it should be us, human beings, to address this issue. It may not be too late if we take decisive actions today.

—Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary General of the UN
