Ron Pierce, Production Director

Ron Pierce previously served at PBS as Senior Director, Veterans Initiative on the Station Relations team. In this role, Ron lead the planning, coordination and implementation of PBS’ “Stories of Service” initiative in support of veterans and military family members. This includes working closely with member stations, CPB, NPR, other public media partners, and veterans’ groups across the country producing content to tell their stories.

He also previously worked as part of the Veterans Initiative and previously from the Democratic National Committee, where he was National Director of Veterans Outreach, Director of Small Business Outreach and Deputy Director of Constituency Outreach. Specifically in his work with veterans, Ron organized, developed and managed the national veterans and military family outreach program, working to ensure this important group’s integration and consideration in Democratic Party policies and values. During President Obama’s re-election campaign, Ron also spent time as State Veteran Outreach Director at the North Carolina branch of Obama for America, where he led and managed the statewide veteran outreach program.

Prior to his work in politics, Ron lived in San Francisco and worked at network communications provider PAETEC Communications, where he managed several accounts as a Senior Team Manager. He also spent nearly seven years as a Senior International Carrier Account Executive with XO Communications. He began his career in telecommunications as an Account Executive with MCIWorldCom.

A combat veteran, Ron spent 12 years in the U.S. Army, ultimately reaching the rank of Major. During his service, he spent time stationed in Minsk, Belarus as a Nunn-Lugar Nuclear Arms Reduction Officer, and also served as Commanding Officer for a 150-person artillery unit. He earned his B.S. in Human Services from West Point and holds a Master of International Affairs in Russian Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and Stanford University. He also attended the Defense Language Institute and is conversant in Russian.
